Atmospheric Chemistry Lab at UCLA

From 2008-2011, I worked in the research group of Dr. Jochen Stutz, Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry at UCLA. My tasks were to analyze data taken from Summit Station, Greenland of concentrations of such gaseous compounds as diatomic oxygen, nitrogen and bromine oxide. The goal was to detect whether a stationary MAX-DOAS instrument could produce observations of a comparable nature to much more costly instruments on balloons or ozonesondes. In summer 2008, I participated in a field campaign in Greenland, operating the Long Path and MAX-DOAS instruments we used for our measurements.

I presented this work at UCLA Science Poster Day in April 2010 and wrote about my experiences in Greenland in a blog series for the UCLA Daily Bruin. Our joint work was also published by my adviser, Dr. Jochen Stutz, in 2011.
