German Research Centre for the Geosciences (GFZ)
Between 2012-2014, I worked in the research group of Dr. Danijel Schorlemmer, a statistical seismologist at the German Research Centre for Geosciences (or GeoForschungsZentrum, GFZ). In my project, we evaluated seven earthquake forecast models which produce forecasts for three-month earthquake rates over California. Using a suite of likelihood-based tests and spatio-temporal residuals, we isolated the model features leading to over-prediction following earthquake sequences.
I first-authored a publication on this project in 2014 and also presented it at the Data Analysis and Modeling in Earth Sciences conference and University of Potsdam Geosciences PhD Seminar Day (both in 2012 in Potsdam, Germany) and at the Global Earthquake Model Summer Reveal (2013, Pavia, Italy).
